Dr. Ranjit Shahani
Mr. Ranjit Shahani has been on the Board of Novartis from November 1, 2002. He is a mechanical engineer from IIT Kanpur and MBA from JBIMS, Mumbai. He started his career with ICI in India in their businesses of fibres and specialty chemicals. Later, he rose to the position of General Manager with ICI/Zeneca in the U.K., overseeing their Asia Pacific and LatAm operations for their petrochemicals and plastics division. This was followed by a period as CEO at Roche Products Limited after which he moved to Novartis India Limited in 1997. Mr. Shahani was President of the Organisation of Pharmaceutical Producers of India till 2013 and is President of the Swiss Indian Chamber of Commerce India.
Mr. Amitabh Kant
Mr Amitabh Kant is presently CEO, NITI Aayog (National Institution for Transforming India). NITI is a Government of India institution for catalysing the development process, nurturing an overall enabling environment by working in partnership with States, by being a Knowledge hub and a Think Tank by facilitating implementation. Its aim is to foster involvement and participation of State Governments in policy making and enhance cooperative federalism. Amitabh Kant is a member of the Indian Administrative Service, IAS (Kerala Cadre: 1980 Batch). He is the author of “Branding India – An Incredible Story” and has been a key driver of “Make in India”, Startup India, “Incredible India” and “God’s Own Country” initiatives which positioned and branded India and Kerala State as leading manufacturing tourism destinations.
Mr. Davinder Singh Brar
Mr. D.S. Brar holds a BSc. degree in Electrical Engineering from Thapar Institute of Engineering & Technology, Patiala and a Master’s degree in Business Administration from FMS, University of Delhi. After having started his career in 1974 with The Associated Cement Companies Ltd (ACC), Mr. Brar has been associated with the Pharmaceutical Industry for over three decades. From 1977 – 2004, he was with Ranbaxy Laboratories Ltd and he became the CEO & MD of Ranbaxy in 1999. Mr. Brar started his entrepreneurial journey in 2004 with GVK Biosciences. He was a Member of Prime Minister’s Task Force on pharmaceuticals which drafted the blue print for the growth and global expansion of Indian Pharmaceutical Industry including R&D and pricing policies. He is currently a member of Consultative Group on Exports of Pharmaceutical Products, under the Chairmanship of Hon’ble Minister of Commerce, Industry and Textiles.
Ms. Shobana Kamineni
Shobana Kamineni is the Executive Vice Chairperson of Apollo Hospitals Enterprise Limited and a member of its founding family. Championing Special Initiatives for over 7 years, Shobana had steered the organization’s emergence as a proponent of integrated healthcare in India. She also heads Apollo Pharmacy, India’s largest pharmacy chain with a pan-India network of over 2500 stores, 19000 employees; it serves 3,00,000 customers a day. She is the founder and a Whole Time Director on the Board of Apollo Munich Health Insurance, acknowledged as India’s best specialized Health Insurance Company for 6 years, consecutively. An active member of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), Shobana has been elected as President for the year 2017-18. She is the first woman to become the President of CII since it began in 1895.
Dr. S.H. Advani
Dr. Suresh H Advani is a famous oncologist with over 25 years of experience. He pioneered Hematopoietic stem cell transplantation in India. Struck by poliomyelitis at the age of 8 years, the wheelchair-bound doctor studied at Grant Medical College, Mumbai and then completed his Masters’ in oncology. He gained experience in the field of bone marrow transplantation from the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, Seattle, Washington. He is known to be the first oncologist in India to have successfully carried out a bone-marrow transplant. Dr Advani was awarded the Dhanvantri Award in 2002 and the Padmashri in 2003 for his contributions in the field of scientific research in medical oncology;The Padmashri in 2002 by the President of India; The Padma Bhushan in 2012 by the President of India; The Lifetime Achievement Award in Oncology in 2005 by Harvard Medical International.
Dr. Swati Piramal
Dr. Swati Piramal is one of India’s leading scientists and industrialists. Dr.Piramal earned her M.B.B.S from Mumbai University in 1980. She is also an alumnus of the Harvard School of Public Health. She leads a team of scientists in cancer, diabetes, inflammation and infectious disease research, with a portfolio of over 200 international patents, and 14 new drugs. Piramal Enterprises is a multinational, with global manufacturing operations and supplies medicines to over a 100 countries. On April 2012, Dr. Piramal received the Padma Shri. Dr. Swati has also received the Alumni Merit Award, the highest award bestowed on Alumni from Harvard in September 2012 and the Lotus Award at New York, from Children’s Hope India, in Oct. 2012. Dr Piramal has been the recipient of one of France’s highest honours -“Chevalier de l’Ordre National du Merite” (Knight of the Order of Merit) in 2006, for medicine and trade. She received the Rajiv Gandhi Award for Outstanding Woman Achiever, in 2007.
Dr. Ashok Vaid
Dr. Ashok Vaid is a Medical Oncologist and specializes in Chemotherapy and Bone Marrow Transplant. He has an experience of more than 20 years in the field of Medical Oncology. Dr. Ashok K Vaid has authored a number of publications, research papers and abstracts and has been actively involved in organizing various seminars, workshops and conferences throughout the country. Dr. Vaid has also conducted more than 40 international and national studies in clinical research. He has the unique distinction of having carried out the first 25 bone marrow transplants in any private sector hospital in North India. Conferred the prestigious “PADMASHREE” Award the 4th highest civilian award in India by the President Of India, for the year 2009 for his contribution to the field of medicine on 14th April, 2009. “CHIKITSA SHIROMANI” Award Conferred By The International Study Circle, New Delhi, 10th Feb 2007
Mr. Rakesh Bamzai
Mr. Rakesh Bamzai is the Managing Director & CEO of Mylan Laboratories Limited, based in Bangalore, India. He has over 25 years of experience in the Indian and global biopharmaceutical industry and is responsible for growing Mylan’s ARV, Active Pharmaceutical Ingredient (API), generic and specialty businesses in India and Emerging Markets. He has been actively involved in Mylan’s business growth in India and Emerging markets. With the aim of brining affordable cancer in developing countries, he has been actively involved in pursuing introduction of novel biosimilar and other anti-cancer therapies and working with various agencies, funders & governments to address Public Health challenges. Mr. Bamzai graduated in Chemical Technology from UDCT, The University of Mumbai and has been awarded ‘Distinguished Alumni’ by the Vice Chancellor of the University.
Mr. Amitabh Dube
Mr. Amitabh Dube is the Business Head, of Novartis Oncology. Amitabh joined Novartis in November 2010 and since then has been responsible for the operations of this Business Unit in India ; Sri lanka and Maldives. He is a member of the Corporate Executive Committee of Novartis in India. He has over two decades of consistent track record of proven Business Results and leading various business functions which includes over 11 years in general management as part of senior leadership team. Amitabh has joined Novartis from Roche, where he was heading the Oncology division as Director Oncology Business Unit for Roche in India.
Prof (Dr) G. K. Rath
Dr. G. K. Rath is presently Head, National Cancer 52 Institute (India), Chief Radiologist and Professor & Head: Department of Radiation Oncology at the Dr BRA Institute Rotary Cancer Hospital, All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi He obtained M.D.in Radiotherapy in 1977 from AIIMS, New Delhi. His Awards/Prizes/Fellowship include Sir Dorabji Tata Oration Award of Indian Society of Oncology (ISO), presented at Chennai Biennial Conference of ISO, Fellow of National Academy of Sciences (FAMS) and 34 other awards His publications include 267 in National Journals and 152 International Journals and is also chairman of 27 committees.
Dr. G N Singh
Dr. G.N Singh did his doctorate in Pharmaceutical Sciences from Banaras Hindu University in 1987 and MBA from University of Hull, U.K in the year 1997. Dr. G. N. Singh established Indian Pharmacopoeia Commission (IPC) in the year 2009 with the aim to set and promote quality standards for drugs and pharmaceuticals in the country. Dr. G.N. Singh, the first Secretary-cum-Scientific Director of the Commission has been discharging the functions and duties of Chief Scientific and Executive Officer till today. Under his leadership, IPC publishes Indian Pharmacopoeia (IP) and its Addenda at regular time interval, ensures availability of IP Reference Substances (IPRS) and Impurity standards to fulfil the intended purpose of IP monographs and Indian Pharmacopoeial laboratory was accredited as WHO pre-qualified (first among government laboratories) and NABL accredited to ensure compliance of ISO:IEC 17025:2005
Dr. Jitendar Sharma
Known in technology forums as the “Med Tech Man” of India, Dr. Jitendar Sharma is the Adviser for Health to Govt. of Andhra Pradesh, MD & CEO of Andhra Pradesh MedTech Zone which is Asia’s first medical devices manufacturing city and Executive Director of Kalam Institute of Health Technology. He is adjunct faculty at University of Adelaide, Australia; and program Director for Health Technology Assessment (HTA) fellowships in India. Awarded among the “100 most impactful healthcare leaders” in global listing by Health & Wellness Congress, he established the Healthcare Technology Division and was the Founder Director of WHO Collaborating Centre for Medical Devices at NHSRC under Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India. His past experience includes that at Sri Sathya Sai Medical Institutions, as consultant to World Bank, as Consultant to the World Health Organization, Geneva and advisor to Health Technology Innovation Centre at IIT.

Prof (Dr) Purvish Parikh
Dr. Parikh is the Director of Precision Oncology & Research, Asian Cancer Institute. He is also a Board Member, Maharashtra University of Health Sciences, Executive Director, Indian Cooperative Oncology Network and Director of Clinical Research and Education, BSES Municipal Hospital. In the Past, he has held the position of President, SAARC Federation for Oncologists, Indian Society of Medical & Pediatric Oncology. He is also the Emeritus Editor, South Asian Journal of Cancer & International Journal of Molecular and Immuno-Oncology. Dr. Parikh is passionate about Digital Health & Medico-Legal Issues. He is also the author of 19 books; 36 chapters in books; 200+ scientific articles.
Dr. Shyam Agarwal
Dr. Shyam Aggarwal is a cancer specialist specializing in medical oncology having more than three decades of clinical experience. He is a senior consultant at the Sir Ganga Ram Hospital in New Delhi. He completed his MBBS from Chandigarh and then MD Medicine (PGI) from Medical College, Rohtak after which he underwent a special training at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in New Delhi. Having a special interest in bone marrow transplant he underwent training at University of California, Los Angeles and Saint Vincent Hospital, Sydney. Being a renowned oncologist Dr. Shyam Aggarwal has been honored with many awards and recognitions throughout his long illustrious career and has been involved in actively creating awareness programs for bone marrow transplant and Colon Cancer or Bowel Cancer.

Member of various professional bodies and speaker in international fora.
Dr. Shekhar Salkar
Dr. Salkar is currently chairperson of the Goa Medical Council, General Secy NOTE India, and Joint Secy Goa Cancer Hospital. He has worked as a Junior Resident, Senior Resident and Research fellow at Tata Memorial Hospital, the Sion Hospital and at the Shushrusha Hospital, Mumbai. He obtained his MS from TMH at Mumbai in 1988. Dr Salkar attended and has been invited to a large number of International Breast Cancer Symposiums. He was invited to John Wayne Cancer Institute, at Los Angeles for a grand round presentation including deliberations with the patients followed by an interaction with the surgical oncology fellows of the institute in 2009. His awards include Best student and Best Graduate of 1982-83, at the Goa Medical College. The list of research papers among others include utilizing Anganwadi workers for cessation of tobacco habits of rural women and on the effectiveness of utilizing medico Social Workers of an active NGO for Tobacco Cessation.
Mr. Pravin Anand
Pravin Anand, born on May 5, 1955 at New Delhi, is a Senior Partner, Anand and Anand, India. He completed his law studies in 1979 at the Campus Law Centre in Delhi and has been practising both as an advocate, and as a patent and trademark attorney. He serves on the editorial board of several international intellectual property journals such as IP Asia, Entertainment Law Review and Computer & Telecommunications Law Review. Mr. Anand is the author of several papers on intellectual property and has spoken extensively at various forums such as WIPO, AIPPI, INTA, LES, IBA, LAW ASIA and UN Conference on LDC’s in the Digital World at Brussels. He is the Chairman of IPR Promotion Advisory Committee (IPAC) constituted by the Government of India as also the Chairman of IT Committee set up by FICCI.

Ms. Frances Milnes
In her role at Novartis, Fran oversees the development and implementation of market access and health policy strategies, and helps drive increased patient access to our innovative portfolio across the region. Most recently, Fran was responsible for forging a new access team to cover the Ophthalmology portfolio of Retina, Glaucoma, EED and pipeline products. Prior to that, Fran was Head of Patient Access Retina and spearheaded several innovative access initiatives within the franchise, including the creation of the RWE platform VERO in 2012, which today has EHRs for over 100,000 Retina and Glaucoma patients. In 2014, she drove the launch of the first Emerging Market Brand, Accentrix, in India. In addition, Fran brings more than 10 years of experience from IMS Health where she served as a consultant. Fran holds an MBA from Cambridge University and a BSc from Newcastle University.

Dr. Ajaikumar is a doctorpeneur and the Chairman & CEO of HealthCare Global Enterprises Ltd. He is a radiation and medical oncologist with over 40 years of experience. After completing his MBBS from St John’s Medical College, Bangalore, he went on to complete his residency training in oncology from the University of Virginia Hospital in Charlottesville and his fellowship in radiation and medical oncology from the renowned MD Anderson Hospital in Houston, Texas. As he continued to build his practice in the US, Dr. Ajaikumar also founded a not-for-profit hospital in Mysore, Bharath Hospital and Institute of Oncology in 1989. At the same time,he started the Bangalore Institute of Oncology (BIO). As this center grew, it helped Dr. Ajaikumar understand the nuances of cancer care in India. The requirement was very clear: there was a great unmet demand. The need of the day was accessibility, affordability, and high quality of cancer care treatment.

Sanchita is the health & science editor of the Hindustan Times. She has been reporting and writing on public health policy, health and nutrition for close to two decades. She is an International Reporting Project fellow from Paul H. Nitze School of Advanced International Studies at the Bloomberg School of Public Health and was part of the expert group that drafted the Press Council of India’s media guidelines on health reporting, including reporting on people living with HIV.

Dr Sameer Kaul is a cancer specialist of repute in the Asian region with busy work schedule in New Delhi, INDIA, Mauritius, Ras-el-Khaima, UAE, and most importantly in Jammu & Srinagar state, INDIA. Hailing from the valley he heads SURGICAL ONCOLOGY UNIT I comprised of half a dozen consultants and other junior consultants and is certainly among the busiest oncology division in India. He conducts monthly outpatient clinics in Apollo Cancer Institute, New Delhi, Kashmir Nursing Home, Srinagar, Apollo Bramwell Hospital, Mauritius.

Over the past 3 years, he has been involved in developing corporate strategy for Datar Cancer Genetics Limited, an advanced molecular diagnostics laboratory in India. His academic background includes Engineering from IIT-BHU and Management degrees from IIM-Ahmedabad and the Indian School of Business. Satish is currently a PhD Scholar at IIT Bombay, focusing on disruptive innovation in delivery of cancer healthcare.
Mr. Deepak Bagla
Managing Director & CEO, Invest India Deepak Bagla started his career with the World Bank in Washington DC. In 1989 he joined Citibank Global Corporate and Investment Banking team and held several responsibilities across Europe, Africa, Asia and Australia. In 2007 he moved to 3i Private Equity to start an India dedicated fund for core infrastructure. Mr Bagla was a special invitee to the Government of India’s, “High Level Committee on Financing Infrastructure” – (2011- 2013). He was a member of the Banking & Finance Committee of the Bureau of Indian Standards (ISO affiliate 2005-06) and was also a member of the committee established by the Government to recommend corporate governance norms for independent directors (2006). He was elected President of Delhi Management Association (2008-09) Mr. Bagla is currently Managing Director & CEO of Invest India, the National Investment Promotion and Facilitation Agency for India.Mr Bagla has a Bachelor’s degree with Honors in Economics from St Stephens College, New Delhi and a dual Masters in International Diplomacy and International Trade and Finance from The School of Foreign Service, Georgetown University, Washington DC.
Mr.Bhagoji T. Khanapure
Karnataka drugs control department now has Bhagoji T Khanapure as its new drugs controller in-charge from June 1, 2016. He has taken charge from Raghurama Bhandary, former drugs controller of Karnataka who superannuated on May 31, 2016. As a B-Pharm graduate from Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College of Pharmacy in Belgaum, Khanapure has extensive managerial experience and has been working in the district offices of the state drugs control department. He joined the department in October 1991 as drugs inspector in Bidar district. He was promoted as assistant drugs controller in 1996 and posted to Shivamogga from May 1996 to January 2002. He worked as assistant drugs controller in Tumkuru district between January 2002 to April 2005. Then from May 2005 to February 2007, he was at Kodagu district on transfer. He was promoted as deputy drugs controller and served at Mysuru between August 2006 to February 2007.
